Die Reise ging weiter: York!
Im Gegensatz zu Manchester ist York eine sehr alt gebliebene Stadt — zumindest im Zentrum. Besonders beeindruckend ist das York Minster!
In opposite to Manchester, York is a very old fashioned city — especially in the down town. The most impressiong building is the York Minster.

Der erste Zwischenstop meiner Reise war Manchester. Bekannt als Industriestadt — und sicherlich auch durch ihre Fußballmannschaft. Insgesamt empfand ich die Stadt als sehr stressig. Viel Verkehr, viele Menschen, hohe Häuser — und jede Menge Baustellen. Aber es war dennoch interessant!
The first stop of my journey is Manchester, a very important industrial city with lots of traffic, lots of people, building sites and high buildings. But it was interesting!
Auslandssemester ist vorbei / Exchange is over
Meine Reise ist beendet, endgültig. Genug von England, und natürlich auch von der englischen Küche.
Nachdem dem die Vorlesungszeit zu Ende war, starterte ich eine kleine Reise nach Schottland. Mit Zwischenstops in Manchester, York und Newcastle (Tyne) ging es dann nach Edinburgh — eine wirklich geniale Stadt. Von da aus machte ich noch einmal Trips nach Glasgow und Queensferry.
Nun bin ich zurück, im Gepäck nicht nur die benötigte Kleidung und Unterlagen, sondern auch jede Menge Fotos, Erlebnisse und Eindrücke. Um die Seite nicht sofort zu sprengen, wird es diese dann Stück für Stück geben — je nach Zeit.

My journey is over, finally. I have enough of England — and enough of the English cuisine.
After ending of the lectures I travelled to Scotland. With stops in Manchester, York and Newcastle Upon Tyne. I visited Edinburgh — a very beautiful city. The last two cities was Glasgow and Queenferry.
Now, I´m back — and I got lots of pictures, experiences and impressions. But not now, i will publish it step by step, when I have time.
Der traurigste Moment ...
... eines Auslandssemester ist nicht der Abschied zu Hause, während man in etwas Ungewisses neues startet. Es ist der Abschied vom Ausland. Wenn man zu Hause abfährt, weiß man, daß man die Gegend und die Leute wieder sehen wird!
English Version:
The most sad moment of an exchange semester is not the goodbye from home before starting into something unknown. It is the goodbye from the foreign. Starting from home means: you know that you´ll meet again the area and the people arround you.
Ich bin wieder da ...
Die Zeit verging wie im Flug: am 19.12. trat ich meine Heimreise an. Alles lief soweit perfekt — obwohl in Dresden der Winter wieder ausgebrochen war.
The time before Christmas is over: on 19th of Dezember i went back to Germany. I had no problems with the winter in Dresden.
Das ist Gruppenarbeit / This is teamwork
In dieser Woche erreichte mich unter anderen folgende E-Mail eines Komilitonen / In this week, i received the following e-mail:
thanks a lot for the e-mail, I did not come on Tuesday because, I met the module leader on Monday and he told me that I don´t need to do the module as last year, I
passed the assessment but failed the exam. But this year,there is no exam so I got a pass for the module. [..] Let the other members know that, I am no more a member of the group. I am very sorry about that, I didn´t know until last Monday and I hope that it won´t disturb you.
Mal davon abgesehen, daß er sicher nicht traurig, sondern eher über die Arbeitserleichterung erfreut ist, spiegelt diese E-Mail sehr schön die Organisation des gesamten Lehrablaufes wieder. Gruppenarbeit ist toll, besonders wenn die Gruppen dynamisch sind. Da fusionieren Gruppen drei Tage vor dem Einreichen einer Arbeit, plötzlich fragen noch Studenten an, ob sie sich der Gruppe noch anschließen können oder wie hier: sie scheiden auch wieder aus. Wie kommt man da eigentlich inhaltlich zu etwas?

Ok, he´s not really sorry. He will be happy, because he saved lots of time. But this e-mail is a really good mirror for the organisation of teaching. Groupwork is cool, especially when the members of a team are changing currently. Three days before hand in a assessment, groups are merging together, some students want to join a group or leaving. I´m not really sure about the results of such group works ...
